SUMTER CO., GA (WALB) - There were two hearings on Wednesday in Sumter County to discuss a proposed millage rate increase.
The Sumter County Board Of Education adopted a 2016 millage rate requiring an increase in property taxes by 4.11 percent.
There has not been a millage rate increase in the county in over five years.
Another public hearing will be held next Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the central office.
After that meeting, the board will vote to approve the new rate.
