THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

A smoking dumpster in Thomasville raised some concerns.

The fire department was called out to the recycling center on Remington avenue Monday night.

When they got there, they said they could smell a strong chemical odor.

They said that about twelve 55 gallon drums were dropped off there, some of which still had chemicals inside.

"We got to investigating it and found that the chemicals had mixed with water and organic materials and started to react a little bit." said Tim Connell, Fire Marshall for Thomasville.

The Fire Department is still searching for whoever is responsible.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Thomasville Fire Department.
