COLQUITT CO., GA (WALB) - A Colquitt County man was charged with animal cruelty after officers found a malnourished dog in front of his home.
Colquitt County sheriff's deputies arrested Romaldo Ramirez.
Animal control officers were called to Circle Road in response to a stray dog on July 8th.
While they were there, one of the officers saw a dog under a tire in the home across the street.
The hairless dog was covered in scabies mites and had scabs all over.
Humane Society Executive Director Dawn Blanton said the dog did not have food or water.
"The owner actually looked at the sheriff's deputy and the animal control officer and said, 'What's wrong with this dog? There's nothing wrong with him,'" said Blanton. "And that's when the sheriff's deputy basically just said, 'Okay, enough is enough.'"
Ramirez told deputies he found the dog in June.
The dog is being treated and quarantined at the Colquitt County Humane Society.
