WORTH CO., GA (WALB) - A Worth County man is recovering after being bitten by a rabid fox.
Officials with the Department of Public Health say the fox ran out of the woods and under a car.
When a man looked under the vehicle, the fox jumped out and attacked him.
Officials say rabies is fairly common in wild animals in this area, but it is almost always fatal in people if not treated. They also remind you to protect your pets.
"The warning for the public is first of all have your pets, cat and dogs vaccinated yearly. It is the law and it does protect your pets and it's very important," said District Environmentalist Dewayne Tanner.
Health officials warn you to be cautious of wild animals and avoid wildlife behaving oddly.
