TIFTON, GA (WALB) -

A plant in Tifton is turning heads.

It is so tall, one looking at it can follow it up to the tops of the trees.

The century or agave plant typically lives 15 to 30 years.

It is a monocarpic plant which means it blooms only once in its lifetime.

For this plant, that is right now.

Towards the end of the plant's life, it can stand 30 feet tall.

Neighbor, Jaquaris Walton said he is surprised to see how tall it has grown.

"I've never seen a plant that can grow that tall. I guess this 30th year marks it's end so I believe that is pretty amazing," said Walton.

The plant is near the corner of King Street and Baldwin Drive across from the railroad tracks.
