DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) -

Dougherty County Police want to make sure Pokemon Go players aren't breaking the law just to advance in the game.

Officers warn drivers that playing while driving is distracted driving, and that is illegal.

They haven't seen any incidents with the game yet, but they want to remind players to use caution.

Players who are walking should also make sure to look up from their phones to avoid danger.

"When they're in their phones, they want to pay attention to their surroundings. You walk in certain areas that are dangerous to be in in the first place.  So be aware of your surroundings and also be aware of using crosswalks, making sure you're not walking out in front of traffic and roadways," said Patrolman Todd Pickelsimer.

Patrol Officer Pickelsimer said that players should not trespass onto private property to find Pokemon.
