Train smashes semi in Coffee

(Russell Flanagan) (Russell Flanagan)

Multiple agencies responded to the collision of a CSX train and a semi truck, on Highway 32 in Coffee County.

It happened about 1:00 Wednesday afternoon.

The GSP says the driver of the Southern Ag Carriers tractor-trailer, 39-year-old Darrick Smith, was going over the railroad tracks when his landing gear got stuck on the tracts.

Smith attempted to fix this issue, but then a train headed his direction, so he got out of the way, and was not injured.

There were two people on the train, an engineer and a conductor, and neither was injured.

The scene is now clear. No citations have been issued.
