ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Albany's Civil Rights Institute Director Frank Wilson spoke out about recent protests around the country.
Wilson said that there are a few similarities between the Black Lives Matter and Civil Rights Movements.
Both movements are concerned with what's happening to black people and both impact all people.
And they both focus on the injustice towards humanity.
But Wilson has noticed one issue.
Some people are using these events to divide communities.
"We spend so much time looking at each other that we don't spend enough time together looking at the problems are and seeking solutions to those problems," said Wilson.
Wilson said that residents need to talk about "policing" and other issues in the community.
He plans to lead discussions with city leaders and will also take part in a special roundtable discussion that will air on Monday July 18 at 7:30 p.m. on WALB.
