ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A Worth County woman has been arrested and charged with stealing thousands of dollars from her former employer.

32-year-old Ellen Coston was arrested by Worth County law enforcement on Monday, and brought to the Dougherty County jail, charged with two counts of felony theft by taking.

Dougherty County Police said that Coston was the night manager at Big E's Country Store, and is charged with stealing two different store cash deposits totaling close to $4,000.

Investigators said Coston was caught stealing an earlier deposit, but worked out an arrangement with the owner.

"There was a previous incident where she stole a little over $900.  And they came into an agreement for her to pay the money back. It was never reported to the police," said Investigator Steve Mitchum with the Dougherty County Police.

Police said that Coston was fired by the store in May, and the investigation has been underway since.
