ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Those who stopped by the Dougherty Health Department on Tuesday may have noticed food stands set up.
That's because it was the first day of the WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program.
For the next couple of weeks, several vendors will be set up outside the entrance and they'll be selling a variety of fruits and vegetables.
Women Infant and Children customers can stop by, as well as anyone else who is interested.
Vendors said that they want to help encourage a healthy lifestyle in the community.
"It actually promotes other people that come into the health department to eat healthy and it promotes and helps the farmers out," said vendor Kelvin Sherman.
The farmers market will be held Tuesdays through Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
