COFFEE CO., GA (WALB) - The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called in to assist Coffee County Sheriffs with a death investigation.
Sheriff's deputies responded at about 5:30 a.m. Sunday in reference to a Hispanic male found unresponsive on the 6600 block of Highway 32 West.
Upon arriving on the scene, officials found the body of 51-year-old Domingo Ortiz. A stab wound discovered on the body was considered as the cause of death.
After searching the area, officials arrested 68-year-old Miguel Hernandez Santos in connection with the death of Ortiz. Santos was transported to Coffee Co. Jail.
Santos is charged with malice murder and and possession of a knife during the commission of a crime.
The body of Ortiz was taken to the GBI Medical Examiner's Office in Macon for autopsy.
GBI agents and sheriff's investigators are continuing to look into leads for more answers.
