ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Students in Newton were getting hands-on experience with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math research in an unusual way.

Every year, the East Baker Historical Society holds a day camp for summer learning.

This summer was focused on STEM lessons.

On Friday, they used the subjects to learn how to bake a key lime cake.

"Well it's important for me cause you know one day you want to have a family and you should know, you gotta know how to follow instructions so you can provide," said student Jamia Lofton.

Lofton says she wants to pursue a career in sports medicine.
