SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) -

A Sylvester nightclub was shut down after being raided by dozens of officers.

Club Celebrity owner Rosco Byrd confirmed Friday that he had officially closed the club.

Earlier in the week, Sylvester Police asked the city to shut it down.

Chief Robert Jennings said he's looking forward to the improvements that will come now that the business he sees as a nuisance is gone.

"I hope it becomes a more positive place down there. That we don't have the threat of violence and the actual violence going on. That we don't have underage drinking," said Chief Jennings. "And that it be a more positive area for the kids down there."

When asked why he decided to close his business Byrd said it was in the best interest of him, his family, and the city of Sylvester.
