TIFTON, GA (WALB) - The Tifton City Manager resigned abruptly today.
Larry Riner worked 15 years for the city and nearly five as city manager.
His last day on the job is tomorrow.
No details were released about why he's stepping down, but Mayor Julie Smith says she'll treat it as an opportunity for the city.
"We do see this as an opportunity where we can maybe change direction in our city management and look forward to some new challenges for the city," said Smith.
City Clerk Jessica Jones was appointed Acting City Manager until an interim manager is selected.
The city will start searching for Riner's replacement next week.
