PLAINS, GA (WALB) -

Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter celebrated a big milestone Thursday; 70 years of marriage.

They celebrated in Plains over the weekend at a big family reunion.

Carter's niece, Kim Fuller, said they set a wonderful example for couples everywhere.

"I think one thing about them that has always impressed me is they have a great respect for each other. He respects her and she respects him and they have always supported each other," said Fuller.

Fuller says she is celebrating 37 years of her own marriage, and she hopes she too can make it as long as the former first couple have.
