ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Concerned citizens took to the streets of downtown Albany today to protest the recent officer involved shootings.

Protesters say they're upset about the recent killings of Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge, and Philando Castile, near Minneapolis.

They say their purpose today was "to shed light on the mistreatment of colored individuals," as one protester put it.

"Excessive force should be the very last means of engagement. But unfortunately, when it comes to boys and men of color, it is the first means of engagement and we have to change that," said concerned citizen Henry Carter.

Some drivers blew their horns as signs of support, some even stopped and exchanged hugs with the protesters.

Some say they won't stop protesting until the message is heard.
