ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An Albany man was indicted on 14 felony counts, after holding the mother of his child and five children hostage during a SWAT standoff.

Kendarious Edwards is charged with battery, kidnapping and false imprisonment among other charges.

Prosecutors said that on May 10, Edwards punched the eight and a half month pregnant mother of his child repeatedly in the stomach and face, breaking her nose and held off SWAT officers. Finally Edwards broke through a wall trying to escape.

"The allegations are that he barricaded himself in. And also that he attempted to go through another apartment, through the attic, to escape contact with the police," said Dougherty D.A. Greg Edwards.

Edwards is also charged with burglary for trying to steal from the family during the incident.
