DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) -

An Albany man is hospitalized after leading Dougherty County Police on an early morning chase.

Officers said Adrian Rollins, 46, was stopped in the road near the 300 block of South Westover Boulevard about 2:40 Monday morning.

When the officer went to check on the car, the driver took off.  

Officers said the driver was swerving erratically as it led them on a chase down Westover, Oakridge Drive and Old Pretoria Road, reaching speeds of about 60 mph.

Police said the car struck a tree on Oakhaven Drive, but continued east down a dirt driveway then struck two more trees before stopping.

Rollins was taken to Phoebe Putney Hospital by ambulance.

He was cited with DUI, suspended license and improper stopping.
