ALBANY, GA (WALB) - More than $7,000 dollars worth of prizes were given to campers Friday afternoon as the National Youth Sports Program wrapped up at Albany State. More than 400 kids were at the closing ceremony.
Nobody left empty-handed.
Organizers gave away 49 bicycles, a television and plenty of toys and balls.
It was all possible thanks to sponsors from around the area.
"With those counties lending their support with busing kids into our program," said camp coordinator Robert Skinner lending their support with helping us on the field trip, we couldn't ask for more help."
Jesse Massey has been with the camp since the beginning. He said the continued support is crucial.
"We're committed to trying to make Albany, Dougherty County and surrounding counties a better community and serving the young people in this area."
The camp has been held each summer in Albany since 1975.
