TIFT CO., GA (WALB) -

The summer heat gets to us all, but for those working outside in it every day it's easy to get dehydrated.

That's why for the past six years, a Tifton woman has worked to help out firefighters in her area.

Throughout July, Nicole Taylor will collect water and Gatorade to donate to fire departments in Tifton and Tift County.

She wants to thank the first responders for their services and help them out on hot days.

"The heat in South Georgia and all of their heavy gear, they just get really hot really quick. We've collected over 100 cases of water in the past and we are hoping to hit that mark or get even higher this year," said Taylor.

Five cases of water were dropped off Thursday at the Tifton Fire Department. Firefighters drank most of that while fighting a fire later that afternoon.

The drive continues until Sunday, July 31 and donations can be dropped off at any of these locations:

  1. Tifton Fire Department Main station, located on Forest Avenue in Tifton
  2. Tifton Fire Department South Station, located on Union Road in Tifton
  3. Tifton Fire Department North Station, located on Tift Avenue in Tifton
  4. Tift County Fire/Rescue Station 51, located at 1209 Tift Avenue in Tifton
  5. Tift County Fire/Rescue Station 52, located at 340 Tifton Eldorado Road in Tift County
  6. Or call Nicole Taylor at 229-326-0691 to schedule a pickup
