MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) - People in Moultrie showed their patriotism by honoring Vietnam veterans and their families.
Friday morning, the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) hosted an Independence Day Observance event at the courthouse square.
After singing the national anthem and praying for the nation, The DAR laid a wreath to honor veterans and troops killed in Vietnam.
DAR Regent Nancy Coleman said this year's turnout was their best yet.
"Patriotism and celebrating our birthday," said Coleman. "This is the greatest land on earth. We need to be proud of that, and to respect it, and to realize that it didn't just happen.
Friday's event took place near the war memorial in downtown Moultrie, which was erected 40 years ago this week.
