ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Veterans were the guests of honor at a patriotic service at an Albany church Thursday night.
It's the 2nd straight year First Christian Church of Christ has held the service around July 4th to pray for the United States and thank veterans for their service.
Organizers wanted to unite people of all backgrounds in the name of patriotism.
They called it the Celebration of our flag, God and country, and said that it's just what our country needs.
"We're at a time where we need to pray for our country, our leaders, our community. And this beautiful flag, with the 4th coming up, this is the proper time to do this," Billy Gaskins.
Gaskins hopes to continue the tradition and hopes it will grow with more people throughout the community joining in next year.
