ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Dan Land hosted his first 7 on 7 camp at Albany State, and one area team in particular really caught his eye.
Thursday afternoon seven squads battled through the rain on ASU's lower campus.
The camp lasted from the morning into the early evening with players competing for positional awards and bragging rights.
Land said the camp provides his staff a closer look at the talent that's right in his backyard before the season kicks in.
"The good thing about having a 7 on 7 tournament is that you get a chance to see a lot of the talent in the surrounding area first hand," said Land in his 2nd year as the Golden Rams football coach. "You're able to see those guys and evaluate those guys right away so it's real good. You see a lot of good talent, especially from Turner county."
The Rebels impressed Land who is adamant about turning more South Georgia athletes into Golden Rams.
