ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Albany Civil Rights Institute received a special gift on Thursday.
They were awarded $10,000 by the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration Committee.
This Civil Rights Institute, which began in 1994, is a nonprofit organization in downtown Albany.
Chairman Ken Hodges and Billy Robinson presented the award to executive director of the Civil Rights Institute W. Frank Wilson.
"This money will allow us to keep our doors open to be able to continue to have this wonderful facility available for people to come in," said Wilson.
The committee puts together a celebration each year at the Civic Center on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
