DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) - A Dougherty County employee has filed a notice that he plans to sue the County for one million dollars.
An attorney for Assistant County Administrator Mike McCoy has filed an anti litem notice, which is a notice that a lawsuit is coming.
"The county can choose to respond when it wants to respond. As I understand the law if the county responds a year from now that just increases the amount of time Mr. McCoy will have to file a lawsuit," said Maurice King, McCoy's Attorney.
It states McCoy is suing on several claims, including failure to provide a work place free of harassment and retaliation, battery, defamation, and violation of freedom of speech.
McCoy claims Commissioner John Hayes threatened him physically and threatened his job.
