ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Dougherty District Attorney Greg Edwards and former DA Ken Hodges lent their support to a judicial candidate.

On Wednesday, they endorsed Healther Lanier who is in a runoff for a Superior Court Judge in the South Georgia circuit that covers Baker, Calhoun, Decatur, Grady and Mitchell counties.

Lanier was born and raised in the area and wants to set an example for others.

"The courts are one place where the playing field is supposed to be leveled and everyone gets a fair opportunity and that is something I want to ensure continues and even improves in my home circuit," said Lanier.

Lanier has worked as an assistant DA in the Dougherty District Attorney's office for years.

She will face Ryan Cleveland in a runoff on July 26.
