ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Members of the Albany community came together on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, for a military appreciation breakfast at Albany's Hilton Garden Inn.

The Albany Area Chamber of Commerce and various sponsors hosted the event.

Participants got a chance to thank local military members as well as hear about the local impact of Albany’s base.

The chamber’s Interim President and CEO Barbara Rivera Holmes says it was no coincidence that the breakfast came just days before Independence Day.

“We really take the time to honor our fallen military, our active military. We know of the sacrifices that they’ve made really since the beginning of our nation’s history have led us to where we are today,” she said.

Three Marines were also honored at the breakfast for their efforts in Dougherty County.

The breakfast ended with a special video tribute for the military.
