LEESBURG, GA (WALB) -
A 10-and-under Lee County softball team is raising money to compete in a national tournament.
The Lee Luna-Chix just wrapped up a season that qualified them for a July 17th date in the United states Fast pitch World Series.
The girls washed cars in the heat of the sun at Backwoods Outdoors, but it was worth it because this is the first year they were eligible for the World Series.
"We just tried harder and fought a little longer, and we got a good team together and I think we're ready to try it out," said assistant coach Blaine Strickland. "Lee County has been great to us. Backwoods Outdoors has been great to us and Lee County residents have helped us out a lot."
The Luna-Chix are one of the lone girls softball teams from the area competing.
The 6-day trip begins July 17. To donate, you can reach the team's head coach Bubba Workman at 229-894-3581.
