MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) - Watermelon prices this year have been relatively low and many people said the taste has been good too.
South Georgia farmers said watermelon yields so far are about average.
They said there have been some problems with moisture in the melons causing disease.
But farmers found more success than last year even with low prices.
"We've had a lot of movement this year, so that's always good," said partner of Chill C Farms Sam Watson. When there is a lot of movement, it helps offset the lower price, but when you have low prices and no movement that is never good."
Squash and eggplant are also in mid-season now.
Farmers will continue to pick them through the middle of July.
