ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A former South Georgia District Attorney is in line to be only the fourth lawyer from Albany to be president of a statewide legal organization.
Ken Hodges was sworn in as treasurer over the 4,800 member State Bar of Georgia.
Hodges served three terms as District Attorney in Dougherty County, and has a legal practice with offices in Atlanta and Albany.
He said it's important for attorneys with ties outside of metro Atlanta to have a voice at the table.
"I do think it is important that we bring the resources of the bar to all areas of the state and that is going to be one of my messages through my tenure as treasurer and ultimately in other leadership positions," said Hodges.
Traditionally, the elected treasurer moves on to become president of the organization.
Hodges was elected by a statewide vote in May.
