LEE CO., GA (WALB) - As the murder trial of a former pro boxer charged with killing his wife continues, jurors heard phone calls Yathomas Riley made to his wife from jail.
In June, Riley was arrested and jailed for a domestic violence charge. While in jail he called his wife at least 5 times.
On the calls recorded by the jail, Dr. Lisa Riley and family members urged Yathomas to see a psychiatrist and get mental help.
At times during those calls Riley sang, another time he wept.
Lisa Riley was found dead in their home July 10th. Yathomas Riley maintains his wife committed suicide.
During testimony Wednesday night, co-workers of the emergency room physician at Phoebe Putney Hospital testified that Yathomas Riley would sit beside his wife for hours while she was on duty, even at times going into rooms with her when she treated patients.
Attorneys said they expect the trial to last the rest of this week, and possibly on until next week.
