South Ga. baseball players headed to the World Series

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Some young baseball players are looking for donations to help them travel to their World Series.

The coach of the 8th Avenue 7 and under All-Stars said that they're the first all African American team to win the Dizzy Dean South State Championship. 

He said they're great on the field, but they're also learning sportsmanship. 

"And that's what I instill in them. One team, one fight. It's just awesome the way they have bonded together and to be able to make this opportunity possible," said Head Coach Lawrence McCray. 

The team will travel to South Haven, Mississippi for the World Series on July 15.
