Two men caught stealing copper at abandoned Albany house

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Police said that they caught two Albany men red handed, stealing copper from a boarded up South Albany home Monday afternoon.

31-year-old Jamel Jackson and 22-year-old Malcolm Allen were both charged with burglary, criminal damage to property and possession of tools for commission of a crime, all are felonies.

Police said that at about 1 p.m. Monday afternoon, they were called by a neighbor to a boarded up house in the 200 block of Ebony Lane, and that burglars were in the home. 

Officers said they caught Jackson and Allen removing copper from the houses' air conditioning and hot water heater and arrested the two.

They are being held in the Dougherty County Jail, and the investigation remains active.
