SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) - Members of the Sylvester community are joining forces to create a program that will keep kids off the streets, and out of trouble.
On Tuesday morning, people discussed ways to raise funds for a new Boys & Girls Club.
Executive Director for Family Visions Outreach Judy Hall said that there are no after-school programs available for kids in need.
Hall hopes businesses and residents will come together to pitch in, adding that even the smallest donation could help to begin a pilot program.
"To help keep them out of the streets, to give them a sense of belonging, and also help them achieve their goals that they have set, or help them set goals," said Hall
They hope to have the program up and running by next summer.
Hall said that they need to raise close to $150,000 before then.
For details on how to donate, visit the Colony Bank at 601 North Main Street in Sylvester or call them at (229) 776-7641.
