LEE CO., GA (WALB) - A masked gunman was stopped in his tracks by a locked door as he tried to rob a Lee County Dollar General Store, and it was all caught on camera.

On June 5, just after 10 p.m. at the Philema Road Dollar General, a man with a shirt tied around his head, wearing gloves and carrying a gun rushed the doors but found out that they were locked. Then the gunman took off empty handed.

Investigators need the public's help identifying the man. They're asking for people to take a look at the clothing and notice he has the gun in his left hand.

"Any distinct gait that the suspect may have. The way he walks. He moves. The clothing items. It appears the subject may have had dreads," said Investigator Brian Johnson with the Lee County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators said that it appears the suspect is a black male, tall and slender, approximately 6 ft. to 6 ft. 3 in. tall.

Anyone with any information about the attempted robbery or the recognizes the gunman is asked to call CrimeSTOPPERS at (229) 436-TIPS.
