LEE CO., GA (WALB) - A busy morning at Grand Island Golf Club Wednesday, one day after finding out their golf club could close next year if a proposed hospital is approved and built on the club's property.
Most of the golfers said they were disappointed, and thought the hospital could be built somewhere else.
Like Tom Martin, who has been a member at the golf club since 1995, when it opened.
Martin said "I think the hospital would be good for Lee County. I just hate to see it's on this facility. On this property. But you know it could be put somewhere else, I guess."
Many of the members said the course and club has bounced back to be in the best shape they have seen it, so they hate to think about it closing now.
Martin said if it closes, he would look for a new club to play golf at.
