Schools in Thomas County will soon get some new technology.
The Thomas County School system was awarded a $150,000 state grant for computer science programs. The school system was one of seven in the state to receive this grant.
New Coding and computer science programs will be put into three of the elementary schools.
The Thomas County superintendent says starting the learning process at a younger age is very beneficial.
"The idea is to teach children to begin thinking and the way that you computer program, its much like learning a foreign language. So students begin thinking in those patterns from a very early age, " said Superintendent Dr. Dusty Kornberg.
The school system has received more than four million dollars from grants in the past several years,
