The Mega Millions jackpot has rolled over 27 times since March 11, so Friday’s drawing is an annuitized $280 million.
Two winning tickets worth $5,000 were sold in Franklin and Atlanta from Tuesday’s drawing.
Mega Millions offers two jackpot payment options: the $280 million annuity prize paid out as one immediate payment followed by 29 annual graduated payments; or the cash option, which is approximately $186 million.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $17.4 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program.
More than 1.7 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.4 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
The odds for winning a prize are one in forty.
