ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Another derelict house was demolished on Robinson Avenue Thursday morning.
It's part of Albany and Dougherty County's initiative to fight the blight. By the end of the month, code enforcement will have demolished 40 houses in the city and county.
"You can see this house is in a nice neighborhood, and its been abandoned and allowed to fall into a state of disrepair and decline. We ended up getting a court order to have it demolished, which will not only improve this neighborhood, but for every substandard structure we take down in Albany," said Robert Carter of Albany Code Enforcement.
Carter says the city is working on approving more money in its new budget so they can continue to demolish old and abandoned homes.
