MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) - Recent robberies in Moultrie have residents and business owners on edge, and police are taking notice.
Friday morning, MPD announced that they have a suspect in custody for at least one of the crimes. Jarrod Walden is being charged with armed robbery. HE's also charged with possession of a knife during the commission of a felony crime. Investigators say he robbed the Advance Auto Parts at knife point on Central Avenue. That robbery happened around 1:00 Sunday afternoon.
Earlier this week, both Kim's fashions and Advanced auto parts were robbed in broad daylight. Deputy Chief Rob Rodriguez says calls for a joint effort between officers and residents to combat the crime.
The police department is encouraging small business owners to come to them for help. "We will be glad to sit down with them and go through their business and say these are some suggestion that we made that may prevent you from being a victim," said Moultrie Deputy Police Chief Rob Rodriguez.
If you see anything suspicious or would like a police officer to come to your business, call Moultrie police.
