David Boudia, the 2012 Olympic platform champion, has found new balance in his life since the London Games.
The 26-year-old married his wife, Sonnie, in October 2012 and their daughter, Dakoda (“Koda”), was born in September 2014.
He says that, despite his success in the sport, “[Diving] is not what defines me.”
While some of Boudia’s competitors have increased the degree of difficulty in their programs, he has focused on his consistency.
He won silver at the 2013 and 2015 World Championships, both times finishing behind China’s Qiu Bo, who won Olympic silver behind Boudia in 2012.
In Rio, Boudia could become the first man since Greg Louganis (1984, 1988) to repeat as Olympic platform champion.
