ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Commodore Conyers College and Career Academy now has a CEO.

The  board selected Chris Hatcher as the new academy's first leader.

Hatcher is an Albany native with experience in the healthcare field and consulting.

He's also owned a small business for the last 15 years.

Hatcher says he's thrilled to be a part of an incredible investment in Southwest Georgia.

"One of our initiatives that we're also focused on is trying to improve our workforce here both for our existing industries as well as for new industries and this career academy will go along way to help us in that," said CEO Chris Hatcher.

"He showcased his background and experience that highlighted us," explained Chairman Chandu Kuntawala, Commodore Conyers College and Career Academy Chairman.

The Dougherty County School Board must give final approval to Hatcher's hiring and also name a principal for the school.
