Thomasville bank celebrates 100 years

THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

Commercial Bank and Synovus are celebrating a century of service in Southwest Georgia. 

The bank was founded in 1916 then moved to Thomasville in 1924.

To celebrate 100 years, the bank will be hosting events throughout the summer and into the fall.

"I could not be more ecstatic to be apart of the celebration for 100 years. A lot of people coming back for it and I'm really excited to be involved in the overall piece of giving back to the Thomasville community," said Ty Turner, Commercial Bank Pres. and CEO.

It will have records, photographs and other materials of historical value to Thomas County on display through July 22nd.

The bank encourages anyone who has historic items from the bank to bring them in to add to the display.

    A South Georgia community is calling for a stronger police presence after someone broke into a woman's home and stole from her. It happened just sometime Saturday afternoon on the 3000 block of Woodridge Court in Dougherty County.
