VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

The Georgia State Patrol's Valdosta post worked a fatal crash on I-75, Northbound, near mile marker 11.

Officials say a father and son were riding in a Toyota Tundra when it went off the road, and over-turned. The father died from his injuries on the scene.

The son, who was driving, was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The GSP issued this statement about 5:00 Wednesday-

Georgia State Patrol Valdosta reports that a 2006 Toyota Tundra driven by Danny Robbins (age 66) was traveling North on I-75 near MM 11, while towing a boat.

The driver apparently fell asleep at the wheel and traveled into the emergency strip where it struck a road sign.  The driver attempted to re-enter the roadway, but over-corrected causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

The vehicle overturned several times coming to a final rest in the center lane of I-75 NB, on its left right side.  The driver, who was restrained, remained in the vehicle and was transported to SGMC for treatment of his injuries.

The passenger, Bramble Robbins (age 93) was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.  The passenger suffered a fatal wound and was deceased on scene.
