GRADY COUNTY, GA (WALB) -

A 16 year old lost his life, and his 14 year old brother was taken to the hospital, after crashing their All Terrain Vehicle  Sunday night.

Luke and Tyler Martin were riding on Pierce Chapel Road in Grady County. Their ATV veered off the road into a ditch and then hit a tree.

The Gainesville Times reports the boys are from Hall County, and were visiting in South Georgia.  Luke Martin was a rising junior Chestatee High School

Sergeant Peeples with the Georgia State Patrol says this tragic accident could have easily been prevented.

"We do see ATV'S on our roadways quite regularly. We do take enforcement action when we see them on the roadways. We remove them from the highways. Unfortunately we do run into kids on a regular basis. Parents need to step up and tell their kids they can't ride them on public roadways,"  said

He also wants to stress the importance of kids and adults are wearing helmets and protective gear if you are riding on private property.
