ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Darton Police officers were sworn in Thursday at Albany State.

The ASU Police chief said he wants students at Darton to know what's going on when they see Albany State Police cars on campus.

He also says the combining of the two departments will help provide better and excellent services to both campuses.

A total of seven officers were sworn in today at the Albany State Police Department.

"We have a total of six Darton Police officers and we have one ASU police officer and one more Darton Police officer swearing in at a later date," said Albany State University Police Chief John Fields Jr.

Fields said the two departments have been cross-training for the past month.

Albany State officers officially started patrolling Darton on Wednesday.
