WORTH CO., GA (WALB) - Kids in Worth County can now have access to nutritious meals even though school is out for the summer.
Worth County School Nutrition will kick off its Seamless Summer meal program Monday.
Because of the high poverty rate in the county, Director Kristen Garland said many families benefit from free school breakfasts and lunches.
But with the school year over, they're working to continue to address the needs of the county.
"It's their moms. Its their grandmom,s it's their brother and sisters. The food is so scarce. everybody eats a minimal amount. So when they come to school on Monday, the last thing they care about is learning," said Cindy Clark, Homeless Coordinator.
The program is accepting donations in order to keep it going.
