ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

With our near record high temperatures this week South Georgians are looking for ways to beat the heat.

On Wednesday, some kids had a great time cooling off at the splash pad in Riverfront Park in downtown Albany.
They say it gives them a chance to stay hydrated and meet new friends.

"I wanted to just cool down,” said 10-year-old Jamaya Jackson.

"Like the water can go up in your face and stuff,” said 8-year-old Lamonte Jackson.

"It cools you down on a hot day,” said 9-year-old Nakilya Wilson.

The downtown splash pad will be open daily from 9 to 7 until Labor Day.
