Nearly half of stores in alcohol sting sold to underage buyers

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit Agents conducted an underage alcohol sting operation May 20, and found there where 11 of 26 stores in Albany-Dougherty County who sold alcohol to people under 21.

"This was almost 50 percent, which is entirely too high," said Major Prurince T. Dice of the Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit. "During this operation, there were stores who did not ask for identification and there were stores who asked for identification but still sold the alcohol to the teens. All businesses and violators who sold alcohol to the undercover teens have been notified and charged." 

Some have reported to the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office and paid fines, but violators who do not turn themselves in, will face warrants from ADDU.

The following stores are locations where officers say under-aged people bought alcohol:
