TIFTON, GA (WALB) - A man teamed up with the community to prevent violence. Alphounso Wright hosted his second Stop the Violence campaign.
The event included, food, music, and fun activities like a slip-n-slide. Wright wants to promote a better sense of community and turn people away from violence.
He wants to spread the message that not all poor neighborhoods and black communities are prone to violence.
"Everybody's not a violent person and like he said earlier, he's from, as he call it 'the hood', so there's good things in the hood," said Ruenett Melton.
"There's violence around here and he's just doing it to help the kids learn how to grow up and be a leader like he is," said Ke'Mya Bryant.
Wright plans to hold more events like this in the future.
